Canadian forces were taking part in the war in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014. Our country lost 158 members of the military and 7 civilians in that war which history had proven unwinnable. Many times while driving on Ontario`s Hwy 401 east of Toronto I`d notice people filling up the bridges that crossed the highway to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. A long motorcade would accompany the hearse on it`s way from the military base in Trenton to the morgue in Toronto on their journey to their final resting place. I began to take notice and realized very quickly that our country was losing it`s young and brightest members of our military. These brave individuals were losing their lives fighting a battle started by world leaders and war profiteers. This Sacred Ground honors those we lost and he citizens who took to the highway bridges to salute them. It is also an anti war song that points a finger at our politicians who sent our military to Afghanistan. None of them would ever send their children to fight these battles.
